This probably varies by institution, but we as students are required to evaluate the rotation once we are done. My question to any residents out there or anyone in the know, do the attendings and residents see our evaluation of them prior to sending the students evals out? Just want to know if there is any chance of that, It would suck to get a crappy eval due to retaliation. Just finished a rotation on a real toxic service and I'm going to be honest on the evaluation.

I don’t know how your institution does it, but at mine, I know that evals are released to attendings and residents only after a sufficient amount of them have them been accumulated for that particular attending/resident (i.e. attending will only see evals once 10 students have filled out evals for them, and this can take a variable amount of time depending on how often students work with them on the service). This is how our school manages to maintain anonymity of the student evaluations and prevents attendings/residents from pinpointing which exact student left them a specific evaluation. It would make sense for evals to not be released to an attending/resident prior to them filling one out for you, so hopefully that’s how it is at your school. Evals are meant to be for honest feedback, and if you were not treated well during a rotation, please let them know that. It will help future students on the rotation because administration will get involved if they notice multiple students complaining about a certain attending. Hope this helped.
