I'm applying to MSTP/MD-PhD programs this coming cycle (2024-2025) and am somewhat anxious about my clinical hours. All the research I've done online points to fact that most dual degree programs dont require much clinical experience (of which I have about 100 hours of decent quality experience), but I'm worried my lack of hours will get me screened out of a lot of programs (especially those that dont have seperate md/phd committees). Plan on adding another 100ish hours by time I apply (currently an IRTA fellow at NIH)
I have a good sGPA (3.8), decent MCAT (516), and very strong research resume so less worried about that aspect of the application.
Have talked to a few md phds that were in similar positions but they emphasized that its not something to worry about. Is that true? Or have I only talked to outliers...
Applying to wide range of programs.
