In class the other day, we had a guest speaker on the topic of getting a degree/education as a clinical lab tech/med tech. It seemed more of a sales pitch to me, especially when things were said like, "You can call me to morrow to get interviewed for a spot, and I can guarantee you'll have a degree in 12-16 months." Then the comment was made that, "If you don't have a 3.8, you don't have a shot at PT school."
It almost seemed to me like they wanted people to quit their current undergrad school or give up hopes of PT/other careers and go to med tech school instead. It seemed like they were really trying to work on pre-PT/pre-allied students with what was almost like "scare tactics" in regards to future jobs, etc.
Now this is a large health sciences institution with a med school, dental school, allied heath school, etc., so I was kind of surprised in some of the comments like above (not verbatim, but the absolutes in which were spoken was basically the same).
Have anyone ever had people that come into class to speak about a career and then mention a lot of misconceptions or false statements? Someone I know that's going into PT for sure got fired up about it.
