A clinical psychology predoctoral internship site in Texas is looking for a second intern for 2026-2027. This will make them eligible to apply for APA accreditation on contingency. The site offers generalist training, but is predominantly neuropsychology focused. If you or you know anyone who has not matched yet and is looking for an internship site for 2026-2027, comment below.

I'm interested. What are the details?

I am only asking you to respect my reasons for choosing to share further details with individuals who express interest. I appreciate you providing oversight. You are free to suspect or not even give attention to what does not sit well with you. I have responded to you only out of respect. At this time, I choose to disengage.

A thousand SDN bucks says someone is looking for cheap labor for their private practice
That's the vibe of it.

There is a very formal, and at times overly strict, process for internship. Deviating from it is NOT recommended if you want to be license-eligible in every state.

Or, say, if you want to get your internship site accredited by the APA....
Perhaps, you skipped the original post and jumped to the comments. You were too quick to respond than to understand. It is quite disappointing that you all underestimate the knowledge/intelligence of doctoral CANDIDATES. How many clinical psychology doctoral candidates do not know about the APPIC process or the implications of a non-APA internship? If a candidate is still seeking an internship at this time of the year, what does that tell you? Do you not know that any internship outside of APPIC needs to be approved by the student's DCT (who provide oversight)? Is this your best support for students who still have not found a match? If you were concerned about students not knowing the implications of a non APPIC or APA internship, your provision of that information would have been valuable. That is oversight! If you don't have any help to offer, just hold your peace.

A very fancy way of saying “My mom said if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything a’tawl.”

Look, we are receptive to people offering needed and unusual paths to internship. Posting a public listing is fine and obviously in the wake of the internship imbalance, which has obviously affected hundreds of students, alternative paths to internship are valuable, as long as the poster knows the significant risks - and gets the opinion of others in the field who can talk about the risks of an internship expecting, but that has not received, accredition. The pushback is just because you are being wierd and secretive about it. It is shady, regardless if you have good reasons to do so, and a public listing is gonna call you out on it here because doctoral students seeking a tentatively accredited program are 1) still in training and thus naive and 2) in a vulnerable position now. Students are easily taken advantage of by bad actors who realize how desperately they need an internship. And most of those that will take advantage of them are similarly evasive and shady when asked about details in a public setting, even if that’s not you or your program. That’s it.

If you were open about the listing details then caveat emptor but if you act shady you can’t act like it is a shock and super rude when professionals in the field tell other people that the lack of transparency is a huge waving red flag.

I'm not sure where this is coming from because I was not in any way implying that applicants are ignorant about the match process or that there is no oversight by their programs. An applicant doesn't need to be ignorant nor does there need to be a dearth of oversight for applicants to be taken advantage of by sites. Rather, it's about the power dynamic, desperation, (relative) ignorance about how internships themselves and given sites work, and other factors that are at issue. That you refuse to provide even the slightest bit of information on this forum with psychologists who are more knowledgeable and/or are current faculty at other sites is what makes me suspicious that there's something untoward going on.

Yeh. This is weird.

As someone who works closely with training intern applicants nationally and researches internship and outcomes as a side project, this is weird.

Like. And its almost June. This definitely feels weird. I agree it sounds like a private practice upstart for low cost labor
Agreed on all points, especially as someone who is internship training faculty.

And notice that OP's response to these concerns and criticisms is not to provide information that would allay them, but rather to become defensive and deflect.
