Hey guys - what is more highly regarded in terms of residency applications - getting a year of clinical research resulting in a publication or getting an MPH? Does getting an MPH help at all?

Um . . . what is it you want to do? Getting an MPH for the sake of an extra gold star isn't worth it. It will not help you. If an MPH helps further your career goals then yes, it is worthwhile.

Sme deal with research. If you aren't interested in it, you won't put together anything worthwhile, too much time and effort required.

Figure out what you want to do . . . then go do it.

Agree with the above.

An MPH is only helpful if you actually want it for its own merits. Some may say that you can usually do it more cheaply as MD/MPH on the other hand.
