well, I think clonidine exerts its hypertensive effects by stimulating peripheral alpha-1 receptors. in first aid (page 241 2011 edition) it is said "especially w/ renal disease, no decrease in blood flow to kidney"

what do they mean with this?

thanks in anticipation

it activates presynaptic a2 adrenorecptors in the brain decreasing the norepinephrine release decreasing cardiac output and vascular tone ..

yeah I know, but what do they mean "hypertension especially w/ renal disease, no decrease in blood flow to kidney"

??

The third column is applications, not side effects, so clonidine can be used to treat hypertension in renal disease.
