So I have an interview coming up. I just found out that it will be a closed file interview. I did terribly in my first and second year in undergrad and so my GPA is on the low side. I have an explanation all ready if they were to ask me about it. But since it will be a closed file interview, I wonder if I should bring it up first or not mention it at all... any thoughts?

this is your time to sell yourself and for the school to sell themselves. don't undercut yourself in anyway.. or yea tell them about your low GPA and that you pick your nose at red lights 😉 ... its your interview

the whole point of closed file is that your past won't bias the interviewers perspectives. Unless asked, don't bring it up

I wouldn't explicitly say your GPA, just say "it's not as high as I would like but I have been working diligently my third and fourth year to bring it up as well as trying to balance [work/volunteering/stuff]" It's a better response than: "my gpa is 1.712.......-awkward silence-...."

Do not mention it! Just mention all the things that make you a good applicant. They will literally know nothing about you, this is your time to convince them that you have great stats so they don't even bother asking about your gpa.

Your GPA obviously isn't an issue or you wouldn't be interviewing.. schools don't interview applicants that they aren't prepared to accept.. you look good on paper, now they want to see you aren't a spaz / robot

Yeah, you passed the eye test as far as the app goes - now sell yourself as a person / future dentist
