How closely do the EK end-of-chaper tests represent the MCAT?

There have been a few where I completely understand and recall the material from the chapter, but BLOW the test, and will have whole passages where I have no clue WTF they're asking (e.g., the Carnot engine passage for chemistry thermodynamics chapter). I end up being unclear if I'm really lacking in the chapter material and need to study it more, or if the tests are misleading and it would be a waste of time to keep focusing on stuff I feel somewhat confident in.

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I haven't found anything through searching.

I also find that some of their answers don't totally jive with the questions. They will imply one thing (e.g., "engine 1 cannot have an efficiency GREATER than engine 2" i.e., it can be lower or equal to), and their answer explanation will state something different (e.g., "...since engine 1 has a LOWER efficiency than engine 2...").

In the first couple pages of the book, the authors explicitly stated that the problems in EK books (not to be confused with 1001 books) only contain hard problems, and therefore, not correct representations of actual MCAT where you will see a varying degree of problems in terms of difficulty. Hope this helps.
