do u guys know when this formula is used?

Y-Y1 = M(X-X1)

M= slope


I think this was a geometry course.

I forgot to say that, in addition to (x1, y1) being known, M (slope) is also known. Just FYI, to draw a line (or find the equation of a line) you need either:

a) two points, or
b) a point and a slope.

The equation you asked about is for (b).
