Happy Holidays!

I am writing with a quick question. I read that sometimes students need cosigners to get student loans. Is that the case for government loans as well or only private loans? As a low income, single-parent household students, what is the probability that I will have to borrow private loans?

Thanks!

That only applies to grad plus or private loans. For stafford loans it is not credit based. Whether you need grad plus depends on your cost of living and tuition costs.

You likely won't need a cosigner for government loans, there is a credit check for adverse credit history for Direct PLUS loans but unless your credit is destroyed you won't need one. That being said, you will be able to cover the full cost of attendance with government loans and won't have to resort to private loans.
