Peds at Walter Reed and IM in HI. Also had a radiology match somewhere. That’s what I know so far.
all the military peeps I know were civilian match deferred (or whatever the proper term is)

lol when you interview at a favorite program but then they say they hold a lot of residents back UGH 🙁 feeling so disappointed.

it's more common in surgery along with getting fired unfortunately at some of the bigger academic programs. SIGH. My friend's sibling was a gen surg resident and got fired during her PGY4 year so it happens. very frustrating since she had to start over with FM.

i know people rank programs thinking that they can never get fired or held back but it happens. some bad evals and an attending who hates you with a fire so fierce can really screw you over.

Ridiculous. I'm so disappointed I've been listening to sad songs for the past 3 or 4 days which only make me feel even more crushed. I loved everything but after they threw this bombshell just shook me. I'd ask for a hug but ... we're in a pandemic lol

How do I get over the pain that I'm ranking this so low loooll 4 days of mourning and not over it. The moment they said it in my interview I just sat there like how do I exit out of this zoom experience. lol

A lot of HPSP folks are since Usuhs students are guaranteed a military spot and there are only so many.
They were great when I saw them live like 17 years ago.
It’s kind of like a breakup, better to find out sooner rather than later. You get to mourn what you thought was going to happen with enough time to come up with a solid plan B to get excited about!

Nice! For January I was supposed to have 3 this past week, and 2 in 2 weeks, but I cancelled the third one because it was going to be just padding the bottom of my list, and then 1 of the 2 weeks from now asked us all to move up because they were seeing a Covid trend and they wanted to finish their season. So I ended up still having 3 this week, leaving only 1 more.

Is it official that we will have to take CS? Do people really think this will happen?! No!
What advantage is it to a program for a resident to take Step 2CS as a resident in their program? It's not like they'll magically become a better physician after taking the test. Instead the program might even need to devote time and resources to facilitate that test day.

5th day of breaking up but good news no nickelback today and no haircut.
Yessss I put a lot of mine at the end of the season I feel you. So many more ethical questions as opposed to the 10/10 chill vibe of DR interviews.
The problem is that if they are chill then they want you to ask them all questions for 2 hours. That's an even worse circle of hell than some canned response behavioral questions haha.
I’d rather they just used something from my whole app to spark a conversation. Those are my favorite ones.

Heads up to my gen surg peeps, especially my DO fam - one of my schools base hospitals, garden city hospital, recently (not sure how recently as i was just made aware of it) got their gen surg program accredited and is on ERAS! I think the word is theyre looking to recruit 2-3 residents but not 100% sure (it was 2 a year when it was AOA)

I will say when your interest program finish with interviews...they will then have all the candidates and start that ranking process...n hopefully somewhere during the communication process whether they are really interested in you...same as for applicants...when we finish all our interviews and really decide our #1

Yeah I think that’s pretty extreme. I did get some thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years cards from some programs. But the program group resident photo, not the PDs family lol.
What would be a high rate of attrition/dismissal from residency? 20%?
