Did you submit USMLE past 5 PM EST? Anyone know if there's a significant delay or is it supposed to be instantaneous like COMLEX? Worried because tomorrow is when the applications are visible in the morning. Thanks.
I submitted around 2pm EST yesterday, so not sure. Hopefully it's instantaneous for those that submit tonight.

I submitted it this last weekend at like 9PM, took about 15 minutes to be visible

For those applying to TYs: How competitive are the TYs on the coasts? particularly Cali/NYC/Boston? Assuming you're a good applicant (>250 Step), mostly honors, good letters etc. Some posts on sdn make it seem like its almost impossible no matter how strong your application is!

yup. Its been really hard finding programs that match my requirements. Looking for Low COL, cheaper real estate with university programs, with good school districts close by. Essentially impossible. I settled on 32 programs.
Same criteria, but a little more open to community programs. But I’m much less competitive than you. Went for 48.

Is there actually a definitive difference in submitting before 9am today vs 12pm? (do PDs download apps or is it rolling, always seems to be varying answers)
Deciding whether to rush to finalize some PS changes or submit in a couple hours if I need to

"ERAS 2021 residency applicants may now begin submitting their application to residency programs. Residency programs may begin reviewing applications on Wednesday, October 21 at 9 a.m. ET. Applications submitted on or before Oct. 21 will display an application date of “October 21” to programs. Applications submitted after Oct. 21 will be date-stamped in real-time."

So seems like everyone's will say October 21 while yours will say October 21, 12:00 PM. Would be pretty noticeable that you turned it in late. I'm no PD but I would think that it wouldn't look too good.
I would have read that to mean real-time starting Oct. 22? But I guess I care less about the time stamp and more about whether the apps are "downloaded" at 9 am and if we'll miss the boat if we submit at 11 or 12

I think the catch here is that at 9 AM they get a dump of apps submitted prior to 10/21 9 AM and that dump of apps will probably be a ton of applications and slow down transmission of those apps who are submitted after 9 AM. So while yours may be time stamped at 10 AM on 10/21, they might not be able to download it until later than that. All of this is unverified of course, I think that's why the consensus is to always submit as early as you can to avoid any server slow downs.

If I was in your shoes, I'd submit it now. Proof read one more time and submit it. I don't think any tweaks to the PS will be worth not being part of the first wave of applications.

Last year I got one the next day. Also usually the release of the MSPE is one month after the application deadline. This year it's the same day. So I expect more interviews will be handed out sooner.
Yeah I guess I should have asked how soon after the MSPE release. Here's to hoping they start rolling in soon!

Do interview dates really get taken fast if you don't schedule it quickly after receiving an email to do so?

Wow, i didnt even know we are supposed to check the ERAS message center. Jesus. Good Luck. Atleast this way you know where you stand with that program, better than being ghosted IMO.
You definitely need to. Many of my IVs came through that way and schedule through ERAS as well

My emails come like 30 minutes after messages show up in my eras message center. Not sure how it works for everyone else. Guess i need to constantly refresh eras?

Same, I got an email almost 2 hours after the message popped up in the ERAS message center. I'm guessing its just a system overload issue. But still, if I get an interview, I don't wanna be almost 2 hours late because I didn't get an email...

A lot of PDs lurking around here. The season just started not trying to cross them. Just got an application received message. Hope that's a good thing. Could have easily declined me instead.
was it a program you've applied to before? that could be the reason for getting a rejection almost immediately
