Oh no! My first interview is Monday and it is webex. Never used it before. Well, the meet and greet the night before will hopefully work out the kinks.

it’s absurd because you don’t have to do that. JFC there is no relationship between following a program on social media and getting an interview.
lmao I'm on research blocks and I do computational research, so I'm literally sitting in front of screens all day. relatively convenient but mentally tiring.
Can we check how we're looking on camera on WebEx like we can on Zoom?
Just installed it and I literally can't do anything it seems like until the actual meeting starts.

WebEx is a nightmare. I did it for a virtual open house and it was brutal. Super glitchy.

There’s just no way programs are actually spending the time to see if that app is following them on Instagram or whatever. Honestly, if a program wants me to do something like that, then I super don’t care.
Can confirm as a resident helping run a program's insta, no one is sending names of students up the chains after a follow. I don't even follow students back because I feel like it creates a false hope type thing that I don't want to feed into. The function for us is to show our program so that students can see if it's a good fit for them, not the other way around.
Depending on when the specialty of your choice starts sending out IIs.
By the end of the third week from the onset of when your specialty starts sending out IIs, you should plan for a backup plan if you don’t get min 10 IIs.

So, since this was the end of the 3rd week and a lot of specialties released week 1, we should be worried if we don’t have 10 now?
My IM friends that have ~10 almost exclusively applied to community programs. I think the caliber of programs matter here. If you have a mix of both, I wouldn't worry about having <10, especially considering the fact that 5-6 IM interviews practically guarantee a match.

Yes, this is not a normal cycle. The typical rules do not apply. I still wouldn't be panicking at this point unless you literally had zero interviews.
I would say 5 is a good number to have at this point. I know friends who range from 3-25 right now. I personally have 8, but it's specialty dependent and how broadly you applied ofc.

I just got an invite from a program in the southwest 15 minutes ago....very reasonable COL there as well. Sent a heads up email thru ERAS then sent the actual invitation thru Interview Broker a couple minutes later. Sitting at 8 IIs now...so the feeling of dread is less. I have a hunch a bunch of programs will be sending out IIs next week as well.
Just finished step2ck, honestly despite being 9hrs long I think it felt a bit better than step1? (Hopefully I get a higher score too).
Anyone else having some imposter syndrome creeping in as IVs come along? I still fear sometimes that I'm not strong enough clinically (a labmate once told me I was the kind of applicant who looks good on paper... talk about a backhanded compliment!). The more prestigious the place inviting me to interview is, the more I'm like, "yeah, you think you want me but just wait until I get there as an intern and you ask me to interpret an EKG, or a blood gas, or my approach to a CXR, etc. etc.") I guess I just have to trust in the process... though I learned from my first interview NOT to mention that I was in a longitudinal 3rd year clerkship program (with minimal inpatient time) as I could real time see the red flag flicker across the facial expression of the program director who was interviewing me on zoom

Hey--residency is there for you to learn! You've earned your invites so don't be too hard on yourself! I'm sure you did great. It seems like most people see a step 2 score increase over their step 1.

I suspect there's going to be an outpour of invites in the coming weeks to compensate for the early IV hoarding.. but that could be my subconscious talking

It's possible but not the norm. I got a surprise one last night at like 11:30 PM. Guess we need to be on our damn phones 24/7 haha.
Which is absolutely ridiculous. I realize this year is wonky for programs, but if you’re offering more invites than spots shame on you
I had one spell out in the message something like “we have not over invited and you can take 48 hours to look.”

Ya this will be the quietest weekend so far me thinks. Of course most schools have the invites they want sent out so I do not expect much moving forward.
to my rads friends- it seems like no matter if it's a community or upper tier academic program, the fellowship placement lists for the graduates are crazy good. Are programs just reporting the best placements or are rads fellowship just chill like that?
I got an invite today just before noon. Traditional DO program.
Rad fellowship placement really is chill. I'm not exactly sure why that is but it's definitely real. Community programs regularly have top tier fellowship matches. It's not something to worry about IMO.

Anyone else feel like their invites are really random and not at all where they would have predicted?
I can’t get local historically DO community programs to invite me, but I have an invite to an OOS university program across the country with no ties, 3% DOs, and required scholarly activity and I have zero ever.

For me it's been a mix of random and networking (attended residency fair, local program and/or audition site, and professional connections) that have landed me invites. I'll take them all. So far I have 8 invites....and I'm waitlisted at an Ivy League program which was totally unexpected. I just want 13 interviews. Apparently if you can get 13 IIs in EM, you have a better than 75% of matching in the top 3 of your ROL.
A couple of places that extended me invites were totally unexpected.
I think I'd have more invites right now but I pretty much avoided interior US....nearly all my applications went to coastal states and/or beautiful places to live with a couple of Hail Marys thrown in for good measure. I think (hope) my board scores and unique app allow me to get away with this strategy.
Yeah. This ain’t IM. You can literally get any fellowship from any program.
I’ve noticed this too.
I think take note of the programs they match at in case you may want to match fellowship at a specific program one day. Past that, not a huge deal.

Do emails not letters
I've been on two interviews and I really don't know how I'm going to get enough important information or gut feeling from quick zoom sessions to actually change any of my pre-interview rank lists spots barring like a disaster from a program on an interview day. These feel like formalities almost.
My dog has gotten into the pre-interview meet and greets and stuff but just put them in a room so they don’t jump on ya
