Coat length for rotations?

So I am trying to purchase an additional white coat but I am now confused about the length of the coat after doing some browsing online. I find them ranging from 28-40in. I know that we are not allowed to wear the longer ones. However, what about 32in? Is that considered too long? The multitude of numbers are completely confusing me.

If you buy one not from your school will it have your name on the front and your school logo/patch on one of the arms?

I know my school sells replacement coats with nicer embroidering for less than 50 bucks. Check into how much your school costs. And you want to make sure you're not buying a resident/attending length white coat. If you still want to buy your own white coat, then make sure there aren't holes in it for you to put your hands through to reach your pant pockets. The med school length coat won't have that.

If you don't know, measure the one you already have from your school and get a similar one. Don't buy something longer. You'll look like a tool to your classmates.

That's a good idea. But do you measure from the top of the collar or the bottom of the collar?

We have 30 inch coats......I bought a 31 inch since I have a doctorate already and wanted a little more room to carry crap in my pockets.

I am tall so it really is not noticeable.

Heh, at our school we wear the same length coats as Residents and Attendings, we just don't get an "M.D." after our name on the inscription.
