I took the ACS Coding Course right after I finished fellowship and it was pretty helpful; lots of hands-on assistance.
I think its a good choice for someone right out of training who is planning on doing their own coding. Our society has a coding session every year during the annual meeting which I faithfully attend.
I suspect all of your hospitals will require that you take a coding course for ICD-10 by October next year which would likely be free.
Most EMRs are customizable with a "favorites" list; you can provide the codes you commonly use and some will even suggest common codes for your practice which makes it much easier, as most of us tend to do the same 10 things over and over.
