Hi, I'm a non-trad student..PT will be my third career. First year, second semester.

My cohort has nominated me for president of the class. I'm unsure if I want that. I denied the nomination but there is some pushback.

I guess since I'm a little seasoned...I just feel that this stuff doesn't ultimately help much. I'm unsure if I will do a residency or fellowship..I kind of just want to practice.

Maybe there's growth to be had. I know how to lead so there won't be growth there. I've been hella busy before and know how to manage time so no growth there. I just can't see the angle.

Relevant info: I'm currently a landlord (remotely) and while that's pretty low key, sometimes it demands my attention.

What do y'all say...is holding office *actually* beneficial for me?

lol We had 2 "presidents" for our cohort. They did nothing other than sometimes write an email to a professor representing the entire cohort. The "president" of another cohort was hyperactive and super initiative, so he was doing all kinds of stuff, like creating meet up groups for students, trying to get all cohorts together, etc, etc. So in our case, it was up to the "president" how much s/he wants to do or not to do. If you are not ecstatic about this position, then I believe there will be no growth 🙂.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I ultimately denied it and accepted the uncontested nomination of PR Chairman. I have a background is doing marketing/web/graphics for a 5 clinic agency so they want me to handle social media and design t-shirts. Hey, I'll take it lol.
