WOW!!!! that is amazing. it looks like our lives and the lives of the patients have a bright future. i'm sure though that this device will be at least a decade in the making and then once it does come out it will be all up to us to learn how to use it again. They'll probably offer a CE course on this device alone. needless to say though, i am excited to see one of these in real life.

good find

There are some dentists out there who are currently using lasers to kill the bacteria in small caries rather than drill the suckers out. No local required.... very very convenient.

In other news, a Dr. McCoy is now claiming to be able to cure cancer with what appears to be a television remote control.

uh...So it kills the bacteria, but what about the debris? The eroded enamel and dead bacteria won't just remove themselves will they? And what about more severe cases in which a large portion has decayed so a crown is needed, dentists often have to also drill off a good section of perfectly good enamel that hasn't decayed for a crown to fit, this plamsa thingy doesn't say anything about actually removing enamel or dentin...it just says it kills bacteria. What good would that do except in a prophy situation.
