I just talked to two friends and they just got e-mail invites for Colorado. So for those of you waiting on Colorado keep your e-mail open this week and good luck!
Congrats on the interviews! I'm one of those long-shot out-of-staters applying to Colorado, and despite my slim chances there will be no giving up! Does anyone know anyone not from Colorado or another WICHE state that has been accepted to Colorado within the past couple of years?
Out of state students with WICHE or without?i'm a D1 and we have tons of out of state students including myself. so no worries
Just got a rejection today...my top choice. They wouldn't even give me a chance to retake the DAT! Thanks Colorado! I am a little butt-hurt right now! 👎
I remember from all of the rejections that I got the first time I applied, Colorado's was the one were I felt the most "why did I even apply" type of feeling when I received it. I haven't gotten rejected yet this year so I hope that's a good sign.
I wouldn't feel too bad about a Colorado rejection. They're really not that great of a school. I've spoken personally with the CEO of a large dental group here in Colorado, and with the regional sales rep for Nobel Biocare who deals with a lot of the schools directly, and both of them gave negative reviews of the school. Not to mention that I haven't heard a single positive thing from anyone in the dental field about them, coupled with my own negative impression from multiple visits to the school.
for those of you who got an invite or a rejection, could you please share your stats.
What's so negative about the school/program. I am at the oposite end of the spectrum and all I hear is positive information.I wouldn't feel too bad about a Colorado rejection. I think you're just hating because you got rejected. you will get a lot of clinical experience at the school since they only have ortho and perio as their specialties so you'll be open to more procedures. I'm not sure where you got your sources or whoever you talk to. The area the school moved to is in a much lower income than where the clinic use to be. I would say do more research before you post on here.According to rep the quality of the faculty is not that great. I don't remember specifically what she said, just that she didn't think it was a great school. She actually recommended UNLV because they had a group of really good faculty who had come to the school from Texas. The CEO said that the faculty impart an air of superiority to the students that cause them to struggle once they graduate, because they think they should be doing the expensive high class dentistry, and they don't realize that the middle and lower class patients pay money too. I personally wasn't impressed with the school when they pretty much said that all they look at are DAT and GPA. Of course all schools use these stats primarily, but there is much more that goes into being a good dentist than being book smart, and if a school won't look at the whole applicant then I question their ability to produce quality dentists. I mean, their stats are up there with Harvard, and they ain't Harvard. They have a great new facility, unfortunately its on the edge of town. They moved from a downtown location where they most likely had more access to a population that could use discount dentistry to the edge of Denver. I could go on, but I will finish with thier professionalism. I also recieved the NO THANK YOU rejection email last year. I think their professionalism speaks for itself.
It seems to be later in the cycle for CU. Last year they were still interviewing in February and March. Didn't send out NO THANK YOU letters until April for most applicants.I haven't heard from Colorado at all, I guess no news is good news?
You don't know who my sources are? I told you who my sources are. Try reading my post. I'll repeat it for you: A regional sales rep for Nobel Biocare with 30 years experience interacting with dental schools, and the CEO of a dental group that has offices all over Colorado. If you've been to Colorado chances are you've seen them. They're everywhere, and he interacts with CU's dental school also. As far as the patients, they very well could get more patients where they're at. All I said is that I wouldn't think they would because they moved from the center of the city to the periphery, and from what I can tell (as someone who lives in Denver) that seems like a bad move. And every school that doesn't have specialty programs touts it as a plus in the exact same way. My suspician is that as a D1 you have no idea whether or not it really works out better that way at CU. Lastly, as I am a reaplicant, if I were hating on CU because they rejected me I would be hating on other schools as well. Instead of insulting me why don't you debate my points about the school. You may need to do some research for this.

I've only told you what other dental professionals have told me about the school, and what my impression was. Instead of insulting me, this time for being a reapplicant, why don't you tell me what you think is good about the school. If my impression is wrong, correct it please (I would love to be wrong about CU). Same goes for Mackeral. And Mackeral, what would be wrong with PA school? It seems my point about superiority complexes was true.
