We have a yankee lover amongst us. Guess it was inevitable considering the school is in NYC. I remember when pedro throw don zim on the ground everyone at the bar I was at erupted. I have never heard in my life so many drunken cheers of joy at the sight of an old bald man being tosed on the ground and rolling around like Humpy dumpy. And walking down the streets near Fenway, anyone with a yankees hat was verbally abused. Good times.

Hey one more thing buddy, my memory isn't very good, can you refresh my memory of what happened in Game 7 of NYY vs. Bosox? The last thing I remember was Boston was up 5-2 then what happened? How did that game conclude again?

The playoffs this year was not so good for me. You see I'm originally from chicago so I'm also a cubs fan and what happened to them is rediculous. I tell you man that fan (Bartman i think) single handedly robbed the cubs a chance to win the world series. They had the game won until he stole that ball. And then the redsox had to stink it up too. They should have pull pedro man, that was their biggest mistake. 0 for 2 aint so good.

I felt bad for the CUBS.

Marlins deserved to win the world series though. They played well against the Yanks
 
what do you guys think the chance is of getting off the columbia waitlist? or is it really a polite rejection?

Hockey is better? Yeah only in canada, you know that in the US bowling gets higher TV ratings than hockey.

i graduated in 3 years...lilke i did all my o chems in one summer in this program...i know it sounds insane but ive partied too much in college and studied lots too...plus im a september birthday so im younger than all my classmates now... 🙂

Just because US viewers watch bowling more, it makes it better? I never said hockey is the most popular sport, I said its the best sport (minus the fighting, which I've never been a fan of)

Fastest game out there, whereas baseball is SO BORING! The Simpsons did it best.

Announcer: "The pitcher winds up.............wait, the batter takes his time...............and now theres a beachball on the field................ and now the batboys are discussing which one of them is gonna go get it"

Homer (not being able to drink): "I never realized how boring this game was"

Hockey OWNS baseball. Especially in the playoffs. But baseball playoffs are good to watch too. Baseball is best watched with a 6 pack o' beer. HOckey you can watch w/ w/o beer. Football is good to watch as well. I like soccer (again w/ beer or w/ friends)

With the exception of World Cup Soccer and NFL football, basketball playoffs are the best.

NFL football blows as well....if they werent so interested in analyzing the game to death, perhaps it could be good.
 
Baseball is def pretty boring in the regular season, alittle too slow for my taste. I usually just watch the post season. Hockey is a fast sport but I agree with you Avin, the fightin def turns me off to it. I remember a few weeks ago some guy pounded another guy in the head from behind and knocked him out for the season. All in in my fav sports to watch would have to be football and basketball though. Well no point in trying to argue with canadian bout hockey.
 
ok fellas, enough of this hockey is bettah than baseball rutabaga pie stuff. has anyone actually recieved a housing application in the mail yet? i sent in a housing application request form with my financial aid papers at least a month ago. i was just wondering if i'm the only yankee hater in that boat? 😉 let's play 2! go chubs!

Being from boston its only natural that I hate the yankees. I don't think you can survive in boston being a yankees lover. So where are you from, I'm going to guess not ny.

Yup, I'm a Lakers fan. Me and a few buddies split season tix, but ever since I've move to NoCal a few years ago, I only go to a couple of games a year. Besides actually going to the game, nothing beats reselling your tix to subsidize your education!!!
 
Did all of you get notes from Dr. McManus and Davis on your acceptance letters? Mine had 2-3 sentences from each. I am just curious.

Are we getting reminders from Columbia regarding the 2nd deposit that's due May 1?

Yeah they did. It was a nice personal addition that other schools left out. They said something along the lines of hope you come here and buffalo (my home) isn't too far.
 
They told me that it was a lot warmer down there (New york), than up here (Toronto) hehee

It was a nice gesture.
 
They wrote you can give the NYC "authority" message for the class!
 
Does anyone know stats about our class? Like how many women vs. men? Where most people are from? Just curious. 🙂

So are you officially going to columbia is 2008? The think last I checked the ratio of men to women favors women (so more girls). But I don't think its a big diff, maybe like 55% to 45%. I'm from chicago originally by the way. What are you from?

Is anyone here have a tablet pc? Is it worth getting? I know you can write on it using the stylus but does the software really making organizing your notes easier?
 
Did anybody hear from the financial aid office? It's mid April already and I'm worried if money will come on time.

In terms of sending our final transcript to SDOS, do we have to send it through AADSAS or can we send it directly from school to Columbia? I'm just wondering whether there is a point in sending it through AADSAS anyway because the new application cycle is starting soon (can you believe it's been a year? ). Thanks!

mangocat, AADSAS doesn't receive or forward any document for 2004 cycle any more. I think it's better for you to send it directly to Columbia along with your 2nd deposit.
