I've been trying to fill out the Columbia application.
When we list our courses, they ask for "subject." Are people using the AMCAS way of defining subject-- i.e. if you took a class in the Neuroscience major, you are listing it as Biology on AMCAS. Or are you just leaving it as Neuroscience on the Columbia app.
Also, we don't need to list anything for course number right?

BTW... how can you fit anything resembling what's on your transcript in 15 characters? Argh...

Also, for the "satisfactions as a physician" question:
My PS was written in a narrative sort of way. I think it does answer that particular question, albeit in less direct way. Should I just save my PS for the additional documents upload and answer that question directly? Which I think would be boring but if that's what they are looking for... Anyone who worked on the app last year have any comments?

Thanks a bunch !

I sent my PS as the downloaded document, you can do it either way, write an additional answer for the question or write an uploadable document, I think the answer to the question is shorter, they have an actual limit of number of characters. About the subject question, I really don't remember, try to explain what the course is about in as few words as possible. Course numbers don't mean anything, try to be as descriptive as possible within the required directions.

My PS kinda sorta addressed the "satisfactions as a physician" question, so I tweaked it and used it there.

I never uploaded an additional document at the end. 😳
