Columbia DPT Interview

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
If I were you and were waiting to send answers to other schools, definitely give them a ring! I'm sure it can't hurt you... you're just curious because you have to get back to other schools by a certain date. I feel like it would be inappropriate for me because the deposit deadlines for my other schools are a lil later as of right now so that's the only reason why I'm not! PLEASE let us know the verdict!

So I tried calling...multiple times but no one is answering the phone 🙁

Do people who were accepted mind sharing their stats? Hours? GPA? GRE? Thanks!

Hey! I was waitlisted and then accepted last month. Here's my stats:

Major: Biological Sciences
Minors: Anthropology and Psychology
cGPA: 3.4 (I can't find PTCAS's calculated prereq GPA, but it should be about the same)
GRE Q: 153 V: 164 AW: 4.5
40 Outpatient hours with the VA and ~350 at a normal outpatient clinic

Honestly I think my stats are a bit below average for Columbia, but just goes to show you never know! I worked really hard on my essays and made sure I had great references. I also have a lot of research experience and took a huge variety of classes (lots of advanced bio electives and psych and anthro classes for my minors) which I think is something Columbia likes to see. Hope this helps some! Let me know if you have any questions 🙂 Good luck!

Congratulations! Hard work definitely pays off! Best of luck.

I'm afraid to apply to Columbia DPT due to the expensive housing NYC offers.
How are you guys managing your finances regarding housing/transportation/etc?

Also, any insights on the program so far?
Recommend?

Thanks!

I also really would like to know more about finances/housing! Ive been invited to interview in November and the program and city sounds like a dream to me but the only thing that would hold me back are the costs. Any advice would be helpful and greatly appreciated, thanks! 🙂

Congrats on the interview!

Since I don't live too far, i checked out the facility.
I must say, I was not impressed.
The location is NOT on the main campus, rather it is way up north past Harlem...

I don't want to skew your perception prior to your own judgment during interview day.

Best of luck!

Hey thanks! I appreciate your insight! Im from out of state and have been to the city many times but never to Columbia or the programs facilities so I guess I will have to wait for the interview and see myself. What about it didn't you like? I would appreciate any other info that you might want to share. Best of luck to you as well! 🙂

Building and facility just looks old?
Inside the facility looks old and a little beat-down.

Columbia Med campus is located far beyond north of harlem. So it is not the safest.
Even though it is very north of Manhattan, I heard the rent is still quite expensive.

Hey guys, I just got an email for an interview Nov 16th. Who else is going to be there? Looking forward to it!
