is this the generic email that everyone gets?
"intend to rank you"?
just curious if I'm special 😛
probably not!

I got it too, I don't think this means anything other than they will rank you somewhere between 1 and 120. Good luck with the match.

add me to that list. got real excited for a second there too.

I got it, too.

However, mine said:

"We are really really really excited about the possibility that you might come here if you possibly rank us highly because we are definitely probably going to rank you if we feel like it at the time highly for sure and that fills us with such joy that you will probably match here or somewhere or not at all but hey what ev, Trev, because you are one of the most outstanding candidates that we might have seen if we interviewed you which I think we did otherwise the assistant probably wouldn't have sent this message out in the distro list I think kthxbye. Highly."

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN????

It's possible that they sent it to all the applicants they are ranking to match, no? The secretary forwarded it to the distribution list, yet it was addressed to the applicant's name right?

They said something like "we would be delighted to have you as a resident and intend to rank you accordingly". I think that sounds like ranked to match. So congrats to all you guys!

(Then again, I've been known to over-analyze things.)

My message said: "you are the dumbest applicant we ever had and we totally regret wasting an interview spot on your ass, so please don't waste the computer's energy by ranking us." I was wondering if you guys thought my chances of matching here are pretty good or not???

"Would you like to rank us?

___ Check here for yes

___ Check here for no"

Thats kind of weird, dont you think?

The above post reminded me of an incident during my interview trail (not at Columbia). The PD had my evaluation form on his desk and the last question on the sheet was; Rank: YES / NO. I sat down in his office and had maybe a 45 second conversation about golf because apparently he noticed this listed under my hobbies from my CV. Also we had a geographical similarity in the courses we've played at. At about the 45 second mark he asked what my handicap was and I replied " I am a scratch golfer." Meaning I shoot par for those that are not familiar with golf. Now prior to this answer he bragged about his country club membership and how he typically takes the residents there to play the course. As soon as I revealed my golf ability he circled the (NO) for ranking the candidate. Immediately I was baffled and stumped in the office. I drove 4 hours to attend this interview to be rejected based on what? Because I have no idea. Maybe the PD felt inferior for a second, not sure, but they could have just not invited me to the interview if thats all they were concerned about.

True story in case any of you were wondering.
