Will having attended Columbia's SGS hurt my chances for med school when compared to someone with a degree from CC or SEAS? Are adcoms even made aware of which specific college one received their degree from?

I'm attracted to the idea of Columbia, because I would be able take more lower division science courses at a 4-year; compared to somewhere like UC Berkeley, where I'd most likely have to enter as a junior.

Any advice?

At UC Berkeley, you'd only enter as a junior if you took courses, received credit from a community college or other 4-year university, and then transferred to UCB. Otherwise, you'd only have junior "standing," which only affects your registration. Additionally, even if you transfer and enter UCB as a third year, you would still be able to take lower division science courses, but you'd have to take them on top of the requirements for your major.

(creds: just graduated from UCB this past spring)

yes, adcoms know where you got your degree.

i'm guessing that going to GS won't be a red flag for adcoms. i know columbia has a lot of success getting people into med school with their post-bac program... although that's totally separate. but anyway, GS is 100% a great school so they really shouldn't care.

sorry, i guess this post was not so helpful.
