just to let you know (so a ton of ppl don't drive the admissions folks nuts)

columbia will be releasing letters on feb15. unlike in the past, this year the acceptance letters will go out in one stack as opposed to an early set and a later set. the admissions committee apparently already meet once last wk and has passed their recommendations to the steering committee which will probably make final decisions either this week or very soon.

hello, thanks and welcome to SDN!! :D

Do waitlists and rejections go out on Feb 15 too?

According to the other Columbia thread, rejections a few days later, and who knows about waitlists? Good luck! :)

admissions committee made up of all the interviewers, and steering committee made up entirely of Frantz, his pen, and his mighty stamp.

sigh.

Has anyone received correspondence from Columbia? Like a letter or something??

About 3 weeks after my interview, I received a letter from Dean Frantz, thanking me for my thank-you letter to my interviewer. It said "we will keep you very strongly in mind." But I think everyone who wrote to them got the same letter.

I wrote them and I just got a "thank you for your correspondence" card.

yeah, i got that letter. supposedly if you interviewed with frantz, himself, and sent a card, he sends back a much more detailed and personalized letter.
whatever. argh.

oh yeah- supposedly columbia only sends out acceptances to fill exactly the number of class spots they have. they then start pulling people off the waitlist one-by-one just so that their matriculation rate remains high.

this is complete hearsay, though and i have no evidence or substantial source to back it up. i DO know that they do have substantial waitlist movement, though.

I can corroborate the initially only offering as many spots as are in their class thing, as my INTERVIEWER chose to close our interview by telling me all about the waitlist. <img border="0" alt="[Wowie]" title="" src="graemlins/wowie.gif" />
Horrible end to a first interview and, not surprisingly, I recieved no return correspondence to a thank you letter.

Scooby you're a brave one - I dare you to call the admissions office and ask, "did I get in???"

DAMN COLUMB IA!!!!!!!!

Uh-oh what was that all about cm7b5?

haha...that would be fun!

I just got a post card...not a letter that said thank you for interviewing...is this what they do to get your hopes up before the hatchet comes down to make a nice clean cut.....

I think they just send out postcards to torture us.
