Well they would both have to happen. Since only acceptances come in priority mail and theres no way regular mail will make it in a day. Ahh.
 
Normally my mail doesn't arrive until about 3ish but I went out to get something from the car and figured that I may as well check anyway and there it was!!!

A big priority mail envelope!! I'm in!!!!! WOOT! 😍

I live in Westchester, about 20 miles north of P&S.

45 min from nyc, but usps says two days to deliver. which means I HATE MY MAILMAN/ AAAAAAAAAARGH

congrats dienekes. im happy for you but mostly jealous. if i get in (is that even possible?) i'll be especially happy for you.

No news for me... and I'm in Manhattan 🙁 It's absolutely a waitlist/rejection for me.
 
How do we check how long it will take again? Texas here, you think 2 days or 3?

NM and texas should have it by monday, tuesday the latest. odds are if you don't hear by monday there is little hope.

Probably Monday. Waitlist/rejections are sent via snailmail so they should get to anywhere in NY state in 2 days.
 
remember mail moves on sundays, so chances are everyone will receive priority mail on monday.

Mail already came in boston and no package from columbia. Too bad they had to mail them on a friday...

Honestly though, I got pitt decision like days later than most people. I think perhaps my mail man is lazy or something.
 
didn't mean to be harsh, i live in suburbia of nyc and if i dont get in monday ill assume the worst, although i am already assuming the worst, and i had a really good interview. this process has made me a pessimist
 
Dear God the mailman is downstairs right now. I'm in Virginia so it's unlikely news has made it this far this early. But why must decisions go by mail? It's 2008. I want to crash a server.
 
My question is why a friday? Its 1 more day of waiting for everyone. I'd rather they just wait until monday to mail.

I live about an hour outside manhattan and the package came around 11. The office was still stuffing envelopes friday afternoon so a lot will prob be delivered on mon. good luck
 
oh no, does that mean some weren't sent?
 
the office said that they would be sent out that day, but i'm guessing they were probably mailed out late in the afternoon.

Halcyon is in Westchester and I'm in Brooklyn. We're both 20 miles away from P&S and got the package today. I think that if you're outside the NYC/Westchester area, you'll probably have to wait until Monday. Or at least I hope so, for the sake of those of you waiting 🙂

To everyone who got something, did they send it to your 'current' (school) address or your 'permanent' (home) address (as you filled it out on the AMCAS)??? One of mine is is NYC and the other in the midwest so I don't know where to expect it!

Even if you live in NYC, I don't think you need to be worried if you didn't get an acceptance today. They might've put it in the drop box late (after the pick up time)... so technically it was "mailed" Friday, but it might not have been picked up for delivery until today. On top of that, there are a thousand little snags your package could hit while surfing through the postal system. Keep the faith, guys.

I got it at my "preferred" address.
 
sorry, 'preferred address' means the one that's supposed to be the temporary/school one, right? not the permanent home address?
 
nevermind, just looked it up on the AMCAS site, 'preferred address' is the temporary one. Thanks for the response! That gives me a lot more hope!
 
i actually am sorta glad i am on the west coast. it gives me another day to pretend like i might be accepted.

that was me last week. I saw someone post that they got an invite on saturday, but my post office doesnt deliver on saturday so sunday was sloooooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww and i couldnt sleep either saturday or sunday (i wanted to get into columbia rather badly if you didnt notice)

as soon as I posted I got in on saturday, i realized other people might hear later, since they live further away, and felt guilty. on the bright side, i hope it made your acceptance that much sweeter!

Hahaha. I didn't know there was one... 😳 Sorry. I'm also still pinching myself. I can't believe that I got 16 rejections, 2 waitlists, and 2 acceptances... one of which was P&S.

Yeah, I usually want my weekends to last forever, but today I just want to sleep through the day or something haha. The worst thing is, tomorrow I have classes and work, so I still can't find out until the end of the day whereas I bet a lot of people will start posting mid-day.... oh the agony....!!!
 
I was just up in Washington Heights right by Columbia Presbyterian running a 5K race this morning which made me sad that I didn't receive an acceptance letter yesterday. I'm really hoping to hear good news tomorrow, but I only live a little less than an hour south of the city so I'm afraid I should have already received it yesterday. There's still a chance though!
 
I'm really hoping that there is a priority envelope on the way to Mississippi right now with my name on it!!

p.s. dienekes88, my interview was Jan 8th also... & I'm hoping that they were in a particularly good mood that day!!
 
This is pretty pathetic/neurotic, but last night I dug out my Columbia interview invitation and calculated how many days it took between the postmark and when I got it (I happened to remember). I think priority mail should arrive tomorrow and regular mail on Tuesday. So if my mailbox is empty tomorrow, I'll know to expect the worst.

I'm so glad we've had such a supportive thread!
 
Your mail arrival calculations are correct....however....USPS sometimes, ok rarely, does deliver priority mail one day later than expected. Since there is no delivery guarantee with priority mail, if your package misses a plane or truck etc, USPS just shrugs and waits for the next one out.

So....if you don't get mail tomorrow...don't panic yet. If you don't get it by Tuesday...then.....
