Hey guys,

New MS-III (hopefully passed COMLEX 1, fingers crossed).

My OB Shelf is coming up, first one. I have 2 weeks to prep for it. What do you all recommend? I heard numerous resources are available but what is best to get for the year?

UWorld Level 2 vs Combank COMAT vs Combank Level 2?

Would it be better to get Combank COMAT for the actual COMAT or is Uworld level 2 enough for shelf?

thank you!

per COMbank, they said that questions on the COMAT Shelf are different than the questions on the COMLEX 2, thus two different q-banks.

Anyone know the truth? thanks!

Its different for each COMAT, and its gonna be specific to how your school interprets the COMAT into your grade/what your goals are.

Example: at my school the passing threshold is ridiculously low, and the honors threshold is ridiculously high. If you want to pass, you dont even need to study assuming you payed attention on the wards. If you want to honor, youd need to really hit the books hard for 2+weeks.

For OB, I did just case files and scored very high. As long as you have a frame of reference for what a "well rounded" OB rotation should be, you will be OK.

Just dont expect the COMAT to reflect what your rotation covered. Theres a good chance your rotation will have you doing way more labor and delivery than the comat includes. You'll need to know office stuff, gyn, oncology, etc. using a review book was really helpful for me to make sure I hit all the big areas. First aid/step up/case files.... Just pick whatever one you like and use it to outline the range of material you need to know. Then focus appropriately on what you are bad at.

Comats are made up of old level 2 questions. So yes and no.

They are different, but only because they are retired.
