Combined DO/MPH Program?

I know that there are a few DO/MPH programs out there (and a few that only take masters/doctorate graduates), but are there any programs out there that are noticeably better?

I'm curious about DO/MPH programs as well. I've already started coursework this summer, and will have 16 hours by the time Fall 2015 starts. I won't be looking into formal dual degree, but just schools who offer, or who have affiliation with schools that offer, the remaining coursework.

Are you specifically looking into dual degree programs?

Touro-CA allows you to finish the DO/MPH in 4 years. Other than that, "noticeably better" depends on what you believe makes it better.

I don't think a masters will give you a leg up anywhere. Only do it because you have an interest in public health.

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking but Touro California really pushes their DO/MPH program. I think some students who aren't given immediate admission to the DO program do the MPH there first.

If you are thinking about doing an MPH but have sufficient numbers to get straight into a DO program, consider that you can always earn your MPH after medical school. Some MPH programs have a one-year track for people who have already earned a doctorate. I have an MPH from before med school and while it may have helped a little bit in earning admission to medical school, I agree with the above poster that it's best to do it if you are actually interested in public health. If you are looking to improve your GPA but don't have a genuine interest in public health, it may be better and cheaper to take more science coursework at a JC.

I'm thinking about doing a MPH because I want to have some background in global health issues. It will give me a leg up on admissions, but I'm doing it more as an advance of my education/knowledge.

I was looking at MPA in Health Policy & Admin as well, but I just wanted to know if there are any programs that really stand out for their combined DO/MPH programs opposed to others.
