hi guys,
I have an interview with my schools' pre-professional health comittee in 2 days to obtain an evaluation letter. Can you guys give me some advises on types of common questions, and the good answers, please😍😍

they'll probably ask the same type of questions as any other health profession entrance interview. Do expect to answer the question "why dentistry? why not medicine?" Basically, prepare to explain your commitment to the health profession and your personal characteristics that qualify you to become a dentist (stuff like leadership skills, how have your experiences in college prepared you to become a health professional etc) When I had my committee interview, I also had to answer ethical questions like "what's your opinion on stem cell research". One role of the pre-health committee interview is to prepare you for actually interviews at dental/medical schools so expect a similar type of experience (do note that the person who interviews you may not necessarily be a dental professor so be prepared to think beyond dentistry.)

Dont meant to troll,

but since you are getting a committee letter, perhaps you can enlighten me on what is a committee letter?

normally in larger universities and institutions, there's a pre-health committee which evaluates and writes a comprehensive recommendation letter describing your personal character. The typical process of applying to these committees is to submit your personal statement, a brief application/resume, rec letters from professors as well as having an interview all of which will be used by the committee to write up this recommendation. While it may seem like a hassle to do all these before applying to dental school, do note that one single committee letter will weigh alot more than recommendation letters from individual professors (alot of dental schools require 2 or 3 sci professor letters OR 1 committee letter), and the committee will provide you with useful resources during your application process (for ex, my college's committee had workshops on interviews, application process etc). Also, if the majority of people in your school utilize the service and you don't, that may put you at a slight disadvantage (may not necessarily be true. just a guess)

I went in relaxed. The interviewer is not the end all be all of your career in any way, shape or form...in fact, they want you to succeed because it makes the university look good. You should use the time with the interviewer to get feedback about your performance, your application and what he or she feels you should or shouldnt do...

I looked up typical interview questions on google. I was expecting the usual questions asked at dental school interviews but this didn't turn out to be the case at all. Instead I was asked to put myself in a lot of hypothetical situations and explain how I would react and why. After the interview which was long and a tiny bit stressful, i had a chance to speak to my pre-health adviser. They explained that this was exactly the point of the interview. They wanted to see if you could think on your feet without memorizing answers. Some of the questions had no clear right answer, while others probably did and I just sorta winged it as best I could.

I'm sure every school is done a little different, this is just my experience. My advice is to just be yourself and be honest. Don't just tell them what you think they want to hear. As someone said above, they aren't there to hinder your application.
