Comlex PE. Screw up dx and still pass?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I took the exam with 2 classmates. I know that there were at least 2 patient models that the 3 of us put different differentials and plans on. We all passed.

I think there are probably a set of acceptable differentials/plans for some of the patients. As long as you're within those, I think you're fine. I'm assuming there are patients where they expect you to be on a specific wavelength and take your differential/plan in a certain direction.

All guesses/suppositions as I'm not involved in the testing, but I can at least confirm that you can get a different answer from someone else and still have both pass.

You mean make an error in writing that you caught & corrected?
Cross it out with a single line.

Yes, and that is what I did. Hopefully it'll be ok. The PE is booked up for almost a damn year, so not passing = Hooahdoc is screwed. Supposedly new dates/times open up all the time but I'm hoping it won't be an issue.

I'm starting to realize the mistakes I made and all the stuff I forgot to do (which is stuff you never really do in the "real world" of medicine, like the Weber and Rhinne)

I don't think the ddx caries a lot of weight. I didn't pay much attention to it so long as I wasn't waaaay off. I did walk out not remembering if I did a few tests and wrote that on my SOAP note ("unsure if CN VII assessed in neuro exam") passed anyway. Good luck!

Yep, I passed.

Yes you screwed up the ddx and still managed to pass? I'm starting to freak out now that I am realizing all of the little mistakes I made during the course of the day.

I know with one patient on the neuro exam I did check the CN, but when I went to write the note I couldn't remember if I checked II through XII completely. I think I just completely neglected to write the CN part of it. 🙄

I felt way too pressured by time and ended up missing little things. Have others had similar experiences and still managed to pass? I'm going to be completely pissed off if, after passing the other exams without trouble, this is the one that gets me.

Between the packed retake schedule and the way the military treats the HPSP people who have trouble, not passing = I get put on active duty and never graduate from medical school. All because I have anxiety issues that screwed me up a bit during one stupid exam that nobody takes seriously to begin with.

Still's technique is an OMM technique you may or may not have been exposed to. I have discovered not all schools teach it (but it is one of my favorites, especially for cervical dysfunction). You start with the dysfunction via indirect technique, then follow it through to a direct technique. Ask one of your professors or attendings about it and have them show you.
