COMLEX Pharmacology

I think any of those books are good for the match. If you study Kaplan Pharm and go to the course you may actually have a little overkill for Step 1. I actually used Pharm Made Ridiculously Simple or something like that and studied Kaplan. I didn't find any of the pharm questions on step 1 or 2 too difficult. Just remember that your pharm will be integrated into the question such as "18 y/o male with nongonoccocal urethritis, what would be the best treatment option?" and you may have some matching of drugs with Mechanisms of action or side effects. I would say know your antibiotics very very well because these are important not only on boards but also in practice. Know the unique side effects of certain meds such as Tetracyclines causing dental staining etc... Any pharm book you put the time into to learn should be fine for the COMLEX, but know how the pharm is applied clinically. Hope that helps.

I just took the COMLEX computerized preview run...the vast majority of the pharm questions were extremely straightforward, split pretty evenly between tx and side effects. As long as you know the major drugs (lots of psych and heart drugs on mine) and the test I took is somewhat representative, you should have no problem...no tricks, for sure.
