What you did was bolden my first paragraph and ignore the second. I am a conservative VERY pro capitalistic person. Obama is simply enslaving the very people he promises to liberate so we're certainly in agreement there. My point was not for equality but for empathy. Stating that people's struggles in poverty is a "sob story" does not help to solve the problem.
The government needs to get out of the way. The people need to help each other.
By the way, it's a simple fact that the Republican party is in shambles due to their inability to level with the people. (Or at least the media's portrayal of the Republican party being unable to level with the people) Obama is digging himself in a hole and is bringing the democrats with him. There will be opportunity for the Republicans but whoever the leader becomes, he/she will have to be able to EMPATHIZE with the people.
Your taking my statement out of context. I didn't say people's struggles in poverty are a "sob story". I was stating that it angers me when people try to use their poverty as a "sob story", to justify their lack of self achievement and motivation to change their situation.
Smills you are right about Obama but you are delusional if you think any of the republican candidates would have been any better. The problem isn't whether they are conservative or liberal, the problem is that corrupt politicans never do what they say. If you see Bush's speeches prior to becoming president he seems like a completely different person. If he had done what he said he was going to do then I would have voted for him. Same thing with Obama. I am glad I voted against both of them though because they could careless about everyday people. 👎

In fact, I'd say (and I shutter) Billary would be getting us out of the mess better than the Obama the Clown. This guy has the ineptitude of Jimmy Carter, the dereliction of FDR and arrogance of Bill Clinton. He's easily, hands down the WORST President this country has ever seen. And it's not even a close.
Far too many people were blinded by the celebrity status of this guy that the media hyped up. I've been preaching this for years now about this ignoramus. His public HISTORY, the very little of it, all showed these tendancies, EVERY single time. He's an extremist who cares more about pushing his agenda through, rather than re-election, because he knows the mainstream media will not questions him, and those that do he sends his attack dogs out to slander and diminish.
I've never seen ANY administration/Mainstream Media groups ATTACK private citizens such as Joe the Plumber, now Warren Buffet receives attacks this week, as well as Jack Welch.
Obama groupies need to get a grip on reality and realize this guy has STRONG relationships with Bill Ayes, Tony Rezko, Jeremiah Wright and many others who HATE the freedoms and opportunities that America gives to ALL.

Sorry for those of you that have never served in military, but once you raise your right hand you longer have the right to free speech while serving in the military, which if 24/7 as long as you are recieving a pay-check. Instead you are governed by the chian of command and the orders that they hand down. In that chain of command, the president whether you like him or not, is the at the top. You can get away with it on a board like this because your somewhat anonymous, get caught doing it for real by someone that wants to push the issue, and believe me it's no friggin joke.
I know, but it is a point that should be discussed. Hence, you're property of the United States government.

I would like to weigh in here. I served under Pres. Clinton when he was impeached. We didn't really talk about it because it was understood that he was the President, we were soldiers, and that was that. We left the politics to the civilians. Its a wonderful thing to live in a society where the military does what the civilian government says and not the other way around.
As a result there is a curious detachment regarding politics in the military, at least from what I have seen. I am sure folks had their sentiments, but they usually kept them to themselves. Why? Because it is about the unit. You just learn to shelve things like politics and religion to make things work. No one wants to be surrounded by over bearing jerks (admittedly me sometimes). So on this board where it is not a unit setting and the chain of command is not looking over your shoulder (or at least you think they aren't) then you can vent a bit. I just echo what has been said already that we should still mind our p's and q's, keep the name calling to a minimum, and lay off the Caps Lock a bit.

I admire a man like Colonel Claus von Stauffenburg, because he stood up to intimidation, and governed himself through principle in an attempt to overthrow evil. Remember, Greece and Rome were conquered from WITHIN. Obama is absolutely a TERRIBLE leader and President and this 2010 election needs to put an end to his carte blanche by replacing congress members that will sign off on his kook fringe agenda, with those that will stand up AGAINST Obama POLITICALLY.

I was doing a school tour(AFR) in the weeks leading up to and through the last election and it was definitely odd at first realizing I was surrounded by hundreds of arguably intelligent and politically aware fellow officers(06 members and the like as well) and yet we didn't spend much time at all hashing the various party goings-on, candidate platforms, fiscal impacts, etc...
It absolutely wasn't a purposeful avoidance or 'PC' thing either but just more an accepted understanding that whatever the outcome, our chain of command and duty to obey simply remains unchanged. I don't know, the 'curious detachment' that jmick mentioned is just so pointedly apt. That was right on. We did get to go vote if we were locals, no hassle or hinting going on around there either.
Anyway! Smills, seriously, unless your profile is completely made up and you truly are confident in your total anonymity here, your posts regarding the President, particularly w/the repeated name calling and ever more colorful musings regarding your personal hopes and desires for the future, comparisons, predictions, etc...well let's just say that thing now growing smaller in you rear view mirror?

Hey it's my civic duty to know the facts and to spread the truth about corruption in government. I do NOT see how that interferes with me obeying direct orders. I will support the office, and not the man. I don't see how me calling out Obama is any different from a Pelosi or Reid or Hillary calling out Bush in recent history.
