http://news.yahoo.com/vitamins-supplements-most-recommended-pharmacists-152709624.html
like most other news articles on yahoo the most interesting part is the comments. I came across this article and a few comments on there were questioning why the pharmacists is recommending vitamins when they have no training in nutrition and one comment said that we get our info and perks from big pharma so one would be better served asking their dog!

There is a lot of misinformation out there about what pharmacists know and what we can do..

SDNers please educate the public by commenting on the article

Anonymity brings out stupid in people.
The sad part is , Pharmacists as well as doctor's is they have on training in clinical nutrition whatsoever. Believe it or not only 6% of the top medical schools provide a course in nutrition and it is only a 30 hour class, some only offer a weekend seminar. Asking your doctor or Pharmacist for vitamin advise is like asking your optometrist about brain surgery. Most important, and NOT covered in this article, Most vitamin supplements sold contain Magnesium Strearate ( a known T-cell ( Killer cell) inhibitor, Silicon Dioxide ( Ground Sand) and talcum as well as many other additives that tend to do more harm then good. As stated in the article most of these supplements really do not work. 3 things are needed for any of this to work. All vitamins and minerals MUST have a synergist. a co- factor and a chemical transporter to work, without these, you are peeing or pooping out all the $$$ you invested in this product.
Garbage! Pharmacists did not receive the education to diagnose or treat illnesses. Funny thing is that even if their recommendation was valid, they work with pharmaceutical drugs, not over the counter vitamins and supplements.
You could get the same unreliable recommendation from the cashier at walgreens.
Never trust someone trying to sell you something...including pharmacists
.
Why are they printing this drivel? Pharmacists have NO training in nutrition!
And a pharmacist knows what vitamins people should take because???
This coming from the same people who recommend OTC medication for migraines.
