Hey everyone,
I graduated in '07 and am applying this summer. My undergrad school will write a committee letter for me and include whatever teacher/employer letters I can give them. Almost all of my undergrad teachers do not work there anymore.
Most of these schools require 2-3 undergrad science letters but also say that a committee letter can work in its place. If my committee letter only has 1 teacher letter and 2 employer letters, but is a committee letter, will they have issues with this?
Here is an except for University of Pittsburgh"
"The Admissions Committee prefers a composite letter or recommendation packet from the candidate's pre-professional advisory committee. If no such committee exists, a minimum of three letters from science faculty in prerequisite areas are required. Up to three additional letters from non-science faculty or dentists familiar with the applicant's commitment to dentistry may be submitted. It is preferable that the letters of recommendation be included in the application materials submitted to AADSAS. Letters should NOT be submitted directly to the University of Pittsburgh unless specifically requested."
Texas schools told me that employer letters were fine. Pittsburgh said they wanted direct science teacher letters but their website says the committee letter is acceptable.
Anyway, has an other "old guys" experienced issues with this? Did you track down your undergrad teachers or submit employer letters?
Thanks!
Mark
