Research the schools' websites and try to give specific reasons for why you wanna go there. Sometimes its hard because some of the schools have very vague websites so its hard to come up with detailed reasons.

You can also search these forums to see why people chose school x over another one. Also, if you applied to a school because you have family near, don't discount mentioning that because schools understand you'll need a support base.

Would it be alright to include in my supplements an article from my school's president explaining my school's reverse grade inflation policy and trend?

Also, even if schools do not require a photo, is it alright to still send one?

No, I would not send a picture if the school doesn't want it. Do you think your picture is going to get you an interview or something?? Hopefully not, so don't bother schools with useless stuff they don't want.

Not sure about the grade inflation article.
