Hello everyone,

I took classes at Broward Community College for most of my prerequisites but when I graduated they had changed to a 4 year institution. So when I was taking my classes before receiving my A.A. degree the school was Broward Community College but they changed it right when I graduated so on my degree it says Broward College. While this information isn't really important but to maybe 2 schools I am applying to, I would like to know if they are considered community college credits or college credits? I'm assuming they are just community college credits but thought someone might know.

Thanks for your time,

-Matthew

Not many people have been in this situation before, so I dunno if anyone really knows the answer.

Call AADSAS and ask them, see what they say....

If I had to guess, it depends on what the school was while you were taking the pre-reqs (had it converted into a university or not?)

When I went to a community college it was called SPJC. They became a 4 year college and became SPC. Dental schools still saw it as a community college.

they will see it anyways, because you have to send them a transcript from that school anyways. your 4 year university transcript would also show that you took it at a JC/CC.

When you interview, just say it was cheaper to go to a CC than a 4 year institution, if that's the case for you. Good Luck

Thanks for the reply's everyone. I don't think it really matters but will contact AADSAS to see what they think.

I know some people have gone to a CC that later changed to a "regular" college but this differs slightly since I was the first graduating class of the new college.

Either way it's all good. I'm still going to apply to schools that say they don't accept CC credits because most requirements can be surpassed if they like you. After speaking a couple weeks ago to the admissions guys over at NSU, they all were saying even if you got a 12 in one section of the of the DAT and 23+ in every other section you would still be a strong applicant. So you never really know unless you try.

Thanks again,

-Matthew

I'd also ask the registrar of your college about your transcript to see if it will indicate a CC or college.
