Just for the record, I took all of my prereqs at Austin Community College but for biochemistry. I feel that I got a stellar education there and now i tutor students from all universities in the area. So for all of you out there who work or cant afford the bigger universities --- see below and dont believe the hype 🙂

thing with me is, i didn't get into any UCs.. i was stupid not toapply to states. but anyway,

what about sociology major? is that bad or is that ok?

I went to a Community College for 3 years and did all of my pre-reqs there. and now I have 2 acceptances. So you can get into D-school after going to a community college, it just may take an extra year. Since they would like to see how well you do at a university so you may have to apply after your senior year.

what about the myth that you have to be a science major to transfer? (so you can show that you get as good grades with your science classes at your univ)..?

Wherever you go, just take a broad range of classes. You don't have to be a genius to go to dental school. Hell, med school too. The distinction is not where you go, as much as what you make of it there.

Students who take a broad range of classes (humanities, arts, etc.) have better judgment than others who don't. They're more likely to escape that narrow-minded thinking that traps some of us.

I did all of my prereqs at community college and I'm accepted

Same, I did all mine at CC. And if I'm not mistaken, Armor is sittin' on a scholarship offer from UoP.

Bottom line, if take your prereqs at a comm college, get straight A's and nail the DAT.

What about if you have been attending a university? Taking pre-reqs at a community college still a good idea?

I took all of my prereqs at a JuCo and made a 22AA on the DAT.

I applied to three schools and I've been accepted by two and I don't know about the third yet.

That's awesome.. thanks for breaking that myth!

The quality of education you get at a community college will vary. There are some colleges out there who indeed will give you a great education. But for the most part, many simply don't offer the same rigorous curriculum as a 4 year university. Be careful though, some dental schools will not accept prerequisites taken at a community college.

Go to the best school you can reasonably go to. If you can do better than CC, then do it. If you need CC first, it's okay. Regardless of which path you take, just work hard.

I hope no one is mislead into thinking that it's better to go to a CC instead of a regular univ, because there is a slight undertone of such. This is your mind we're talking about. Treat it well.
