Community college

By hours do you mean credits? I'm coming from community college too (transferring this year to a 4-year) and after talking to several officers from various schools i can confidently say it will not (or at least should not) affect you. They look at your GPA from a statistics standpoint, meaning that if the average acceptance GPA is say a 3.0 and you have a 3.5 you will improve their stats and that is what they want. This is irregardless of what background you have.

With that said, it will only benefit you if you come from a top-notch school, but the CC route should not have any bias or bearing on whether or not you will perform well in dental school. Also note that this is why the DAT is required, since it levels the playing field by making us all take a standardized test. An ivy-league may prepare you better for the DAT and dental school, but it doesn't mean you can't score extremely well after a couple years in a CC and do equally well in dental school. Hope this was helpful and good luck! 🙂
