I posted this on the pre-dental forum but I was told it might be more effective on this form soo....

I'm attending western in the fall and I live about 30 mins from there (without traffic) and I would take the 57N to get there so against traffic in the morning

I'm currently considering commuting to save money but I'm not sure if it's worth it?

30 mins could easily turn into an hour depending on traffic for the way home and I don't want to miss out on any campus events and i wanna have a social life and hang out wiht my classmates and II'm attending western in the fall and I live about 30 mins from there (without traffic) and I would take the 57N to get there so against traffic in the morning

Plus a 8-5pm schedule is pretty demanding. But at hte same time I would save about 8,000+ if i lived at home

Any advice? Especially from students who attend Western now! 'm not sure if living farther away would hinder that. Plus a 8-5pm schedule is pretty demanding. But at hte same time I would save about 8,000+ if i lived at home

Hello, I recently graduated from Western as part of the first dental class of 2013. I commuted 64 miles each way every day. I did so in order to save money on rent each month. I lived with my in laws for free. It worked out well because I carpooled with a classmate and took turns each day driving. If you leave early enough, traffic is not a problem regardless of the route taken. Arriving at school before everyone else has its perks (parking, studying, silence).

There are pros and cons to going this route. Yes you can save money but you lose time every day. This is valuable time that could be spent sleeping or studying. If you are able to save a substantial amount of money then I say give it a try for the first semester and see how things go. The first two years are pretty rough and then it's all down hill! Good luck! 😀
