Does anyone know if they still exist? I was fairly frustrated over not being able to shave off a couple thousand off my tuition with such a program. It looks like the economy and corporate incentives in raising future pharmacists are in recession.

As far as I know, CVS has discontinued its program.

that's what i was hoping for as well. i wanted to work for pharmaceutical companies and earn some scholarships through them... im sure there are programs such as this that do exist still.

Check into Walgreens...I think that they offer something to pharm students.

Walgreens offers tuition reimbursement. They will pay $3,000 in prerequisite courses if you currently work for them and then $1,500 each year in pharmacy school. They also offer large signing bonuses if you don't mind moving.

Sigh. I don't really want to turn my back on my current company. However those numbers are staggering. CVS does have a 1k reimbursement for coursework.

If you opt for tuition reimbursement, then you're the company's slave. But if that's OK with you, fine then. I know Rite Aid doesn't have tuition reimbursement.

Maybe check with your state for aid?

And the OP's avatar is my username!

I'm not completely ignorant of financial aid. I just know it's going to be loans.
I don't think I'm a slave, the reimbursement is for work you've done while in school, not a contract to work for them in the future. As for my state, that's laughable. There's no funding for post-bacc degrees minus loans.

My avatar is E. coli and yes, it is rod shaped.

I work at the Safeway pharmacy which will pay 5,000 a year... but that's for the final 3 years of pharmacy school. Still, it seems pretty generous compared to other stores I've looked into.

Oh most tuition reimbursement programs I know of require a contract of X amount of years AFTER graduation in order to receive the money.

Agreed. I've never heard of one that doesn't require you to commit yourself. They don't just give out money for nothing.

I would check with the school you are attending about scholarships. Every school I applied to last year had some sort of scholarship program.

I thought that CVS pays you $5k for every year you apply. But for every year you take their scholarship you have to work for each year.
1yr scholarship = 1 yr of CVS work

Not in California. I can't confirm any other state.
