Those NYC are all pretty much on the same level. So if you guys were deciding between those, what would you say are the good and the bad of all the schools? (I need some opinions because I got into one and I'm ecstatic, and I got waitlisted at another and am not sure if I should stay on the waitlist at this point).

NYU

Einstein

MSSM

What can i say! I have beef with MSSM! It was my worst interview over all and i found the students to be "weird" :scared: .

On the other hand my interview at Einstein was fantastic and i loved the people i came across there.

NYU doesn't need an explanation i think.

All of the above of course - considering students/interview day etc. If you want me to go more in depth about the schools i will come back and do so 😛.

You've got three great schools there. I don't think your education would suffer in choosing any of the above schools, so it's really going to come down to personal preferences and outside opinions. How's your financial aid package? Do you want to live in Manhattan or the Bronx? Do you mind spending somewhat more money on food/shelter/etc, or do you want a quieter and more peaceful surrounding?

As far as national reputation goes, I think MSSM edges out the other two. Look for them to rebound strongly in the next couple years from their huge drop on US News last year now that their management problems are coming to a close. NYU also seems to be progressing on the national stage, with construction projects being erected left and right.

I think I would personally rank MSSM and NYU as 1 and 2 (haven't decided which is which yet) and Einstein at 3. My rankings are largely due to the fact that I like Manhattan more than the BX, but that's solely a personal preference. Like I said, you can't go wrong with any of these three schools. Good luck! 🙂 👍

Flash, have you heard from NYU?

That's interesting. I found the students at Sinai to be the happiest, most sociable bunch I've met at any interview so far, except for maybe Duke. I stayed the day before with a host, so I met tons of them. In fact, the students are so happy there that other schools nickname it "Camp Sinai." Their student unity and likability is legendary. But to each his own I guess.

(They also supposedly have the best looking ladies, a fact that I can attest to, but that hasn't been a factor in my decision..... yet....) 😍

Hehe, not yet, so maybe I won't have to rank them after all. After this whole process is over, I'm going to call them up and ask them how in the heck their admissions process works. Their committee is bent on making us wait FOREVER.

I'm still waiting on NYU too. But it is one of the schools I've been looking forward to hearing from. Well, I guess I should go on the MSSM wait-list, at least for now. It'll give me more time to figure things out.

Flash, you thought Sinai had good looking ladies? Things have changed since I graduated!!!

Sinai is fun, very cuddly, and the students are a good group of people who will help each other, hang out together, and everyone gets along great. No competitive BS and the administration is generally very helpful. Faculty loves the students and are generally very much interested in teaching, especially clinical faculty. Good dorms, gyms, I used to play a lot of basketball on the private courts. A block away from Central Park. The friends I had who went to Einstein usually lived in our neck of the woods when they could. Problem with Sinai is the poor financial situation and the fact that bad management has put the hospital into a hole. Don't know much about NYU though. Regardless you can't go wrong with any of the three.

😀 Things are always different when you're on the outside looking in. My student host was very gung ho about the female population. For his class, women:men was roughly 60:40.

And good luck Rendar!

I can offer you a totally unbiased, objective and impartial opinion: NYU hands-down is the best out of the three.

it was also the only school out of the three that I have been accepted at thus far.

My ex-coworker is currently a 2nd year student at MSSM and from what I've heard she is not too happy. She said there is too much politics going on in that place.....I am trying to email her to find out more info.

BushBaby, I think that excessive politics is an unfortunate part of New York medicine in general, and not something particular to Sinai.

Somehow I don't find any of Tezzie's posts to hold much subastance. In another post she stated:

By "run of the mill med school" she was refering to my acceptance to NYU.

See post: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=99703&perpage=20&pagenumber=2

Yet, she has the audacity to rank these so-called run of the mill schools? These schools aren't even holy enough for you to speak of tezzie.

And, no, we don't need you to go into more depth abouth these schools. You have already said enough and we all know what you really think of them.
