And of course, the winner by far is D I V E R S I T Y

Bonus: In the financial aid talks when they talk about how it is their goal to make sure an education at Dope SOM is affordable/accessible for any student*

It's based on the Greek word "holos" which means "whole."

I'm sorry LizzyM but you have been waitlisted for that interview response. Send us a letter of intent and we'll talk.
The Greeks and I have not been on speaking terms since I learned that hysteria has its roots in the Greek word for uterus. Sexist much? /jk

a good applicant wouldn't need to be on his 9th interview this late in the season... 😉
Hi flapjack3d,

As kindly and respectfully as possible, can I ask you why you think your response from schools has been the way it is? Your stats are absolutely phenomomal and you have an MPH. What do you think happened? You should have multiple acceptances at top 10's, yet your MDApps tells a completely different story. I know it may be tough for you to comment on it, but I'm truly curious. I apologize if it's wrong of me to ask.

Sincerely,
Gus

Collegial, far and away. I don't think I used that word in my life until September

no name undergrad. Generic lor's. Really light course load (probably not a big deal but a few semesters doing 12 credits with some of those being seminar credits or rock climbing or Portuguese). Graduated undergrad a year early so have a year less of ec's.
Also I'm a pretty average interviewer but that doesn't explain all the pre ii rejects.

While he still has yet to hear back from 5 schools, but he so far he has 1 acceptance, 3 waitlists, and 2 rejections post II with his only acceptance being Nebraska. So yeah, 1/6 so far is not exactly going well for OP with a 3.99/42 and an MPH. Those are absolutely ridiculous stats. I have over 10 points lower LizzyM so seeing someone so much better than me struggling so much is indeed something I wanted to inquire.
no I got into nebraska. Rejected or waitlisted or pending everywhere else. I'm just happy I'll be a doctor.
As you should be. Good on you on staying positive my friend 🙂

Stats only gets you interviewed and in the II department flap jack is doing great

I am well aware 11 II is great. I am asking about his actual responses from medical schools. Just a miscommunication between you and I that flipjack3d clearly understood.

Lemme clarify, I just thought "1/6 so far is not exactly going well for OP with a 3.99/42 and an MPH" was a weird line of thinking, because stats and a master's don't predict how well you interview. They only predict getting some solid interviews. You might as well say "1/6 so far is not exactly going well for someone with brown eyes and amazing cooking skills, what happened?"

I too browse SDN on the pooper

Ah I'm glad I'm not the only one....

As for the thread "state of the art sim lab" and then for a bonus my "favorite" applicant question "how many people per cadaver?"

These are things that sound good but really have no bearing on how good the school is or how well it will prepare you. I wish schools would bring in a 3rd year or something so that you could ask questions that are important about rotations, boards, career advising, student happiness, etc.
