Competency Hours vrs Credits!!!

Im going to a private college right now that is on the Credit Hours System for a K-5 Science Education degree. This is my backup plan if I do not get into Dental School, to be a Science Teacher. But, there I found another University, that is cheaper and more convenient than the private College, but they grade using Competency Hours instead of Credit Hours. So some of my pre-reqs will be in Competency Hours instead of Credits....... Will Dental School accpet Competency Hours?
