I know there are a lot of posts regarding this topic, but I'm just looking for some honest opinions and hopefully a little confidence boost.

I'm going to be applying for pharmacy school for the 2017-2018 cycle and wanted to know how competitive of an applicant I am/will be.

I currently have a biochemistry major with a 3.65 cumulative GPA (probably going to go down a little this term, sadly).

In my pre-req classes, I have gotten:
Gen chem - all A's
Gen biology - B's and one C+
Gen physics - all A's
Math - A's and two B's
Organic - two B's and three A's
Biochem - two B's and probably a C+ or B- for this last term

Currently taking microbiology (probably a B+ and an A) and I'm going to take A&P and microeconomics soon.

I have not taken the PCAT yet, but will this July.

In addition to my grades, I'm in a health advisory committee for my school (must apply and be appointed), work in a biology research lab, working on my own undergraduate thesis project, and volunteer as a certified/licensed pharmacy technician. In addition to the volunteering, I'm hoping to soon get a job as a paid technician at a Safeway/Albertsons pharmacy.

Let me know what you guys think about my competitiveness as an applicant to some mid to upper-tier schools (ranked 15+).

Thank you for reading and potential comments!

Take the PCAT and compare your stats to the average admitted applicant. That's how competitive you are.

I recognize that the PCAT is a big portion of competitiveness for many schools, but I'm also applying to some schools who don't accept PCAT scores and take them into consideration. So I would like to know my competitiveness for those schools, as well.

I think your chances look pretty good. I'd have to look at your PCAT to be sure but as long as you score above a 70 minimum (will be a lot of help if you score above 80 or 90) on the PCAT I think you'd be a pretty good fit. I had a slightly higher GPA and a PCAT of 97 along with work and volunteer experiences and got into the 17th ranked pharmacy school.

Hi @oregonian19, second year pharmacy school student here from UMD (ranked top 9th pharmacy school.) I wouldn't worry too much about your GPA, especially since you have A's or B's in a lot of your science courses. Focus on doing well on the PCAT, especially in the science sections and I think you would be a good applicant. Hope this helps!

Okay, I completed the PCAT today and got the following preliminary percentiles:

Composite - 87
Bio - 63 (I hate bio, clearly)
Chem - 86
Reading - 97
Math - 77

Now that I have another data point to add, what do y'all think?

Bump.

Sorry to be annoying, but any thoughts would be appreciated!

You got pretty good chances at getting into a top 10 school with your stats and background. Just spend some time on your personal statement and supplemental applications and you are good. Also don't mess up on the interview.
Good luck!

For what it's worth, a lot of DO schools have lower average GPAs than that. Good luck.
