Most applicants score around 1200. Anything above 1000 should be OK. Of course an outrageous good score will attract some attention. Part I board score is a major factor to get interviews along with good recommendations.

If it is U of Michigan you are talking about, I think good board score is not enough, I think you also need to have a very high class rank. I don't think GRE score is that important. I had 96 part I and almost 2000 GRE score, but not interview from U of Michigan when I applied.....my class rank wasn't in top 10...that is why I think high class rank is very important for Michigan (and most other program as well).

Isn't the max score for the GRE a 1600? If you almost got a 2000 that's pretty amazing.

But I agree, the GRE means basically nothing. It is at the most a measuring stick to decide between two candidates that are basically equal, and at the least is just a grad school requirement that the ortho committee doesn't even consider.

Thanx for the response...... i will be taking GRE soon and after so many years of not studying either maths or english formally as subjects , just a little apprehensive....
Not even a interview call with a score that high .....thats not at all encouraging......sounds like i dont even stand a chance🙁🙁

I applied to ortho back in 01 and 02...The GRE was still the old format, the highest possible score was 2400...but any way, GRE really doesn't mean much to ortho programs.
