Thanks for the tag, but as a WCVMer I'm not super equipped to give feedback (the admissions process for the two schools is very different).

@SARdoghandler @awesomenessity both recently graduated from UCVM and are more familiar with the admissions process than myself. 🙂

"competitiveness" at UCVM isn't really comparable to other schools as far as I know. I should preface this with stating that I am a 2020 grad so relatively removed from the admissions process now.

They will only look at your pure GPA to determine if you get an interview. Sounds like yours should be plenty high enough but it changes every year as they just pull the top however many based on GPA to interview. After that, it's hugely weighted to how you interview. They don't look at experiences or previous vet work at all unless you bring it up to help you answer an MMI prompt. Your references are usually worth 5% total.

I agree with Fern though, I'd continue getting more vet hours where you can. It won't help your application per se, but it can help solidify that this is the field you want to go into as well as help you identify specific areas of interest within Veterinary medicine.

Ditto everything SAR said! The MMI is really what will make or break you applying to UCVM, so focus on that and like mentioned, get some more true veterinary experience to confirm for yourself this career is really for you!
