Hello,

I am new to this website and I was looking for some general information on how I could make myself a more competitive applicant when applying to DO colleges this next year.

Background:
3.55 GPA, 3.5 Science GPA
MCAT: 30T
Biochemistry Major
Shadowing experience & letter of recommendation from both a DO and MD
Current volunteering experience with a veterans hospital in the PT department.
Research experience for 2 years
TA for bio class
Tutor for biochem, human physiology, organic chemistry
Various other small volunteering experiences such as fundraising events, one time volunteering experiences, etc(omitted to keep this post as brief as possible).

My question is simply, 1. How competitive of an applicant am I for DO schools as is, and 2. What are some additional experiences that could better improve my application?

Thanks, for all your help and sorry if this was posted in the wrong place,

You are very competitive. I'm not sure what else there is for you to do before you apply. You could start writing an amazing personal statement.

Hey dude, use competitiveness, not competitivity. Are you from outside the country? Either way, it wouldn't look good if that was in a personal statement.

I swear I'm not trying to break your stones here....just trying to help, even if it seems nit picky

I sure hope you're competitive, because if you're not, then I for one am forever screwed.

The guy got a T on his MCAT (99th percentile), I'm sure he knows what he said.

That said, OP, you have great stats to get into top-tier DO schools and mid-tier MD schools. I'd apply to both, using the LizzyM score table and advice garnered from here on SDN to make a feasible school list.

Does that GPA include replacement retakes ? Cuz that changes things.

You're fine. Don't screw up on your interviews.

OP you look gtg to me. Good luck this cycle. 🙂
