I've been complete at over 30 schools since August 17th (Drexel was my last secondary) at the latest. I've gotten no word from any schools other than 3 or 4 pre-interview holds. No interview invites. No rejections either. What the hizzle is gizzling on in here?

I'm in the same slow moving boat. But we've lots more time to go before we have to start seriously considering plan Bs. Think of this as an opportunity to financially recover from secondaries before you have to start spending again on interview travel expenses (that's the line I'm giving myself this week).

Well the fact that you haven't been rejected anywhere is a good sign. 👍

In the past couple weeks I've gotten 3 interviews from schools that I was complete at way back in July, so they're still sending out interviews.

What is your application like? Can you think of a reason why you aren't getting interviews? If so, best to identify it and start correcting it now, just in case!

My amcas gpa turned out to be around 3.55, which is probably the main reason no one is biting. As of today I still have no interviews or rejections...but a couple more holds (which I understand are most likely rejections). Looking back at my apps, I realized that I probably messed up by emphasizing how different I am instead of focusing on my reasons for wanting to go to particular schools. Sigh... Is there anyone else in my situation?

The neglect is traumatizing.

yess...i feel ya buddy.
44 secondaries submitted. 2 rejections, 1 hold...and tons of silence 🙁

44 secondaries???????? :scared:

I'm not even half of that. Otherwise, we're on the same boat😛

At this point it's a waiting game and constant email checking for the next couple of months or June. It sucks I know but hey, that's how it is man. Try to distract yourself with other activities though, that's the best way to handle it. It's just not healthy to sit in front of your computer waiting all day long.

LOL, 44 is insane. I only applied to 3 schools, all in-state. I probably made a mistake.

:wow: I thought the 31 secondaries I filled out last year was brutal. I have to hand it to you for dogged perseverance to get through all those freaking essays and going through all that money.

44 secondaries must have been grueling.... When did you finish your last one?

submitted the last one i had 2 days ago..have 2 more i am waiting for. so might go up to 46 if they screen me in.

honestly i didn't find doing the secondaries that diffiult. i just forced myself to do them a day or two within arrival time, this way i didnt fall too behind.

u guys think 44 is bad? i know someone who did 50. but at least she already has interviewss. WAHHHH
i got another hold today 🙁

If you're just waiting around for some action from the schools you applied to, go ahead and look into backup options. No stats are too strong for a waitlist. And no waitlist is helpful if it doesn't move you into the accepted pile.

I have an acquintance who didn't get in the 1st time applying with a 3.8 and 36. Waitlisted. List did not move.

Some good options if you are forced to take a gap year; you can combine them:
- Research with well-known fellowship (NIH, HHMI, etc)
- Clinical experience
- Working / Entrepreneurship
- Grad schools (MBA, PhD, MPH, etc) -- having an advanced degree can raise your GPA or allow you time to retake your MCAT ... if you need either. Also if you do well, the advanced degree will be looked upon favorably for med school and residency application.

Good luck :xf:

make that 3 rejections now. *sigh* this is really depressing

thanks for the lack of faith, coup de chance

i am sort of in the same boat as you guys. my application got transmitted over 2 months ago and i've only gotten one interview to TCOM (D.O. school in Texas) in mid-August. nothing but silence from the MD schools.

You are not in the same boat. You had an interview. Congratulations.

This whole process majorly sucks. Just saying...
