Do you guys know of the general time frame for those complete in early august for interview invites? How long does it generally take?

I'm so scared that there's some little thing in my app somewhere that's going to completely sink my application. Like if I accidentally typo'd an hour on AMCAS and instead of 5 hours/week I put 50 hours/week, and they think I'm lying.... or or... if one of my LOR writers backstabbed me and put me as the worst candidate ever... or if my committee people wrote me a negative committee letter (that happens).

Basically I'm just worried that I'll be that guy who applied to 40 schools and only got 3 interview invites. I'm freaking out. Thanks!

totally depends on the school. there is absolutely no reason for you to be worried, but if you are check out last year's school specific threads and see when the earliest interviews were handed out. (and that's only the earliest... plenty of people get interviews later in the season as well-- january and onwards).

From what I've read (I can dig up the thread if someone wants me to), some guy who applied said that two adcoms from two different schools told him that if you're complete in September, you can only interview onto the waitlist.

Wow, no wonder SDN freaks so many pre-meds out.

I'm sorry, but anyone who applied to 39 (!) schools, and didn't get accepted to any of them with a 33MCAT and 3.75 GPA has more to the story than applying in September.

Last time I applied, I was complete by the end of July/early August for the vast majority of my schools (University of Colorado was the exception; they didn't release their secondary until after school had started). I had 2 interviews scheduled before school started. One interview was scheduled for October at the end of September. It's very, very school dependent.

Go to the school specific threads and look around. Some people will post that they got invited to an interview, and you can ask them when their file was complete. Or just make a general post: those who got interviews, can you tell me when you were complete and when you got the invite. Some will surely answer you.

The wait between completion and interview is the most variable portion of the application season. There are no solid rules for determining timeframes, and there's nothing to suggest that the experiences of others will be anything like your own.

Join the club and wait it out.

It will seem like forever.

But don't worry, you won't be that guy with 40 applications and 3 interview invites. There are so many of those people you can only be one of those guys. Besides, wouldn't you rather be one of those guys than one of the guys with 40 applications and 40 interview invites?
