Ok, in an effort to live up to the name....which of the five major controllable factors do you think contributes most to acceptance into medical school? OBVIOUSLY it is a mix of all five, and other things like UG institution, interview, body odor, etc., but of these five, which would be the MOST influential, and why?

1. GPA
2. MCAT
3. ECs
4. PS
5. LORs

Yay for useless posts at midnight!
From personal experience, I'm going to say the following:

1) GPA
2) LORs
3) MCAT
4) ECs
5) PS

They are all so damn important! But two of my interviewers at top-notch schools told me they really didn't give a rat's a** about MCAT scores (and mine was FAR from stellar, so there's proof).

You forgot the most important factor that the adcoms use... The Magic 8-Ball!

I'm gonna go with:
1. MCAT
2. GPA
3. LORs
4. ECs.
5. PS

1. Because it is a standard that all other applicants can be prepared.

5. Is last because really it can only harm you. It is rare that you did anything original that thousands of other people have not already done.

It's really gonna change a lot for which point the number on the MCAT and GPA. Low ones kill your chance and higher ones get your foot in the door but beyond that threshold your ECs and PS more.

Low stats
MCAT
GPA
ECs
PS
LORs

High Stats
ECs
PS
MCAT
GPA
LORs
