Can you tell me your opinion on sending out one additional personal recommendation letter to the medical schools after sending out a composite recommentation letter form the pre-health committee. 🙂

send it. it can't hurt at all and it may help.

worst case scenario: your file is already in the "maybe" or "no" pile, and they'll just throw this extra letter in and never look at your file again.

Definitely send it. I can't speak for all schools, but for mine, the pre med committee deals with a large amount of applicants per year. As a result, the committee letters for the average student lacks the personal touch that you would get from someone that knows you well. Sending an additional personal recommendation letter definitely helped in my case. In fact, I sent 2.
